Weight Management goes hand in hand with achieving a good state of health. However, given the   modern environmental factors such as stress, sleep deprivation, and changes in the quality and nature of the food we eat, the notion of maintaining a healthy weight is increasingly challenging. Rising obesity rates are a major concern for many countries (including Singapore) as obesity is a risk factor for many chronic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Studies have shown that obesity is far more complicated than the common belief of “eating too much or exercising too little”. Multiple causes which differs between individuals require tailored treatments in order to be effective and adequate.

At Kin Teck Tong, the approach to weight management is termed as “TCM Slimming” which adopts the treatment from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective. The approach seeks to effectively help our patients tackle weight issues in a manner that is customised, holistic and healthier.

What is TCM Slimming?

Contrary to the mainstream methods of popping pills and going on crash diets, the TCM approach to slimming is more holistic and healthier. It is widely acknowledged to have little or no side effects.

Through a combination of traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods such as acupuncture, Chinese Manipulative Therapy (Tui Na), herbal medication and moxibustion, TCM slimming seeks to enhance the function of our internal organs, especially the spleen and stomach. This will in turn detoxify the body, improve blood circulation and digestion, and boost metabolism and vitality, thereby achieving a better state of health to combat obesity.

What does TCM Slimming do?

When it comes to tackling weight problems or obesity, TCM believes in going beyond the surface to cater its slimming techniques to suit the customer’s needs, instead of applying a single procedure on every customer. TCM slimming treatment works on identifying the cause and prescribing the right combination of treatment methods to combat the problem. It is especially effective for addressing obesity and weight issues from menopausal syndrome, poor digestion and metabolism, water retention, stubborn fat at problem areas, and inactivity (e.g. due to injury or lower limbs).
